WordPress.com add integrity to their blog stats

January 9, 2009 by Kimb Jones

A Smaller Number « Blog « WordPress.com

Incredibly the WordPress.com site has dropped over 5 million listed blogs from its stats-page.

Quote from Matt:

The new number is a stat we track of active logged-in WordPressers
interacting with the site. It’s an average over the last few days so is
more of a daily number like the other ones.

Now 163,702 is much less impresive sounding than 5.2 million, but that’s okay.

This is great as it cuts the chaff from the WordPress.com site and only leaves quality, up-to-date blogs.

I have a ‘dead’ blog over at the WordPress.com community which I never update. Its sole purpose is to re-direct users here. I do the same on other sites just so I can secure my ‘mkjones’ username (Facebook and MySpace to name a few) so there is no real reason my WordPress.com blog should be listed in their official stats.

It seems that over 5 million other users are doing the same as me, or are incredibly lazy…
