I’m one of the volunteers for The first ever WordCamp Europe and will be flying over on Friday morning (October 4th) from Manchester Airport to Amsterdam (Schiphol Airport).
Over the weekend I’ll most likely be found at the registration desks and generally helping out with anything and everything else where needed. I’m still not 100% sure exactly what being a volunteer will entail but I reckon some of my experience running events with Make Do will help.
Sadly, I’m not speaking π I did put a proposal forward, but I guess people have had enough enough of listening about how I failed with WonderThemes so it wasn’t accepted π
What I’m looking forward to
I’ve been to SO many WordPress-events since my first WordCamp in 2009 but this one looks to be very different.
For a start, its HUGE with room for 600 attendees! And the speaker schedule is simply amazing, really, I mean it.
It includes two-days of quality topics from big-name speakers that are travelling from all around the world (makes no wonder I wasn’t short-listed π right?).
Hopefully I’ll catch:
- Why Big Brands Love WordPress with Sara Rosso
- Developing WordPress Themes with Git with Kirsten Schelper and Elisabeth Holzl
- Business Optimization with Frederick Townes
- Q&A with Matt Mullenweg
- Less is More: The Journey of happytables as a WordPress SaaS with Noel Tock
- Learn from my mistakes, donβt make them: The Business of WordPress with Miriam Schwab
Look out for me
Come find me, I’ll be around.
If not at the conference then the after party/drinks where I’ll be making noise as usual.
For updates follow my tweets for updates of what I’m getting up to and if there’s strong wifi and I have time I’ll also try updating this blog.
