WordCamp London 2017 one-day-er

I’m doing something pretty fun this year for WordCamp London. A one-day-wonder trip that looks like this:

Saturday 18th March 2017

Outward journey

  • Barnsley to Sheffield: 05:51
  • Sheffield to London: 06:29
  • Arrive in London: 08:31
  • Tube to Highbury & Islington: 08:41

Then it’s quickly meeting the team before the conference starts at: 9:15.

I’ll be leaving not long into the after-party, should JUST be around in enough time to get a few drinks and say hello to a few people!

Journey Home:

  • London to Sheffield: 19:58
  • Sheffield to Barnsley: 22:41
  • Arrive in Barnsley: 23:07

Total round trip around 19 hours. Should be a blast!

Slides from ‘Learning WordPress Development’ talk

This months WordPress Sheffield meetup was aimed at people who want to learn how to develop using WordPress.

The concept was to share my experience around the state of the complex WordPress development ecosystem in a talk that was aimed at students and people just getting started in web/WordPress development.

You can download my slides in PDF format here – note that these are in a raw state and a few changes were requested during the session that I’d love to add. Plan is to update the talk for a new batch of students and do a new version in the next three months.

‘Version one’

General feedback was good, although sadly not many students attended the session meaning we missed the target audience (damn lazy students obviously have something better to do on a Tuesday night!).

If anything I’m treating this as a ‘version one’ of something I’d like to evolve into something that has more meat-on-the-bones.
